Identity and branding are my personal favourite areas of design. I enjoy the art of visually expressing a brand’s identity within a logo and style, and then applying that through to how a brand is then represented and accepted by its audience.
I designed an identity for APOLLOKIDS, an independent music label and events company. The position of the counters within the marque combined with the texture of the head signify the connection of music (ear) and the mind (third eye). The type is hand-written as is the “A” marque itself.
Ian already had some designs for an ALH badge and liked ’em well enough, he just wanted to develop the design further, which we did.
Mammoth was a street press gig guide created by Shane Dudfield, Pete Dawson, and myself. My primary role was as the graphic designer and creative director.
Weight was a short-lived band that I was in. We played hard, fast, and heavy music. I designed a custom logo that paid homage to Metal band logos, without all the clichés. Its design was inspired by Japanese horror comics.
I created the logo and overall brand style for the 2008 WSU ASB Student Orientation event. Since ASB was a major sponsor, there were slight visual cues within the branding that emphasised the connection.
Juxt was a CMS I had planned to develop many years ago that was to have its administration system integrated into the public view, its main intention that you could edit the site in a WYSIWYG fashion, rather than having to go through an abstracted admin backend interface.
Nick’s Music Basement was an online record store owned by a friend. I was asked to create a logo reminiscent of an old school bricks-and-mortar record shop. I custom designed all the type myself.
